Fall is the time for all apple and pumpkin flavored everything, especially in food and drizzled on top of fantastic hot and cold coffees and teas. This caramel and apple spice flavored Apple Crisp Syrup Recipe does NOT disappoint. This homemade Apple Brown Sugar Syrup is perfect allll year long.
We wanted to start making our own drinks at home and one of the things we needed was the perfect Apple Crisp Syrup (also called Apple Brown Sugar Syrup) to go in any of our apple drinks from Starbucks like the Apple Crisp Machiatto.
We’ve taken some of our favorites from Starbs before and created our own versions, like the Iced Pumpkin Latte, any of the frappes and now we’ve created this Apple Crisp Drink Syrup for all your Starbucks inspired home creations.
While this is not a complete copycat, meaning it’s the exact version you’d get from the overpriced coffee joint, we like to think it’s pretty dang deliciously, maybe even better than the stuff they squirt in your drinks.

Tips, Tricks & Variations
- Try adding this to other recipes, like your Caramel Apple Sangria, Apple Pie Smoothies, drizzle it on your waffles or Pancakes made with your homemade Pancake Mix.
- Enjoy each sip of your drink that has this drizzled in it because it brings out slightly different flavors with every sip. So, make a big batch of this to add to all your fall drink faves.
- If you want more apple flavoring, you can use apple flavoring extract.
- Use light or dark brown sugar and see which one you like better for your DIY brown sugar apple syrup. If you use light brown sugar when in a pinch but still want the dark brown flavor, try adding some extra molasses and it should help a bit.
- For additional yummy apple flavors, add in the peels of some apples to your saucepan when simmering.
- If you want to replace the brown sugar, we recommend using white sugar instead. We DON’T recommend using maple syrup instead of brown sugar because it’s already a simple syrup and wouldn’t reduce as well when simmering. But keep in mind, we haven’t made this substitution ourselves, so we can’t attest to it.

How Much Apple Brown Sugar Syrup To Add To Drinks?
We suggest trying 2 Tablespoons of this syrup to your drink. Adjust as necessary for future drinks until you find the perfect amount for your tastebuds.
