Variations

Hot or cold– Typically we enjoy these mini chocolate chip banana overnight oats chilled from being stored in the refrigerator overnight. However, if you want to, you can make and serve these warm as well.

Choose Garnishes– You can use things like more mini chocolate chips, sliced up banana, more cinnamon, a drizzle of Apple Crisp Syrup or a dash of Pumpkin Spice or Pumpkin spice syrup.

Swap up the milk– You can use whatever milk you have and prefer. Try cow’s milk, almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, soy milk, etc.

Swap sweetener– we use maple syrup in this recipe to sweeten it up a bit, bu you could use agave, honey, stevia, white sugar, a bit of brown sugar, etc.

Add more toppings– we use flaxseed in this recipe, but you can also add other things like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, etc. to add even more boosted nutrition in your overnight oats recipe.

Banana Chocolate Chip Overnight Oats Tips & Tricks

  • Add a splash of your milk of choice in the morning before giving it a store to make it a little more creamy and rich.
  • Don’t overdo it on how much milk you add or you’ll end up with more of a soup.
  • Feel free to add other things from the variations, but do it in smaller amounts at first, as you may need to end up using a larger mason jar if you’re adding on a ton of variations or additions.
  • If you don’t like your oats the first time, try any of the variations or change up your quantities of what wet and dry ingredients you chose to get it to your desired taste and consistency. Just like regular oatmeal, these can be a taste test until you find your favorite combinations!

Are Banana Overnight Oats Healthy?

These banana and chocolate overnight oats are great for helping you stick to a healthy diet without feeling like you’re missing out on some of your favorite things. They provide a good source of potassium and fiber.

This is a much healthier breakfast option or snack option than fast food, and many commercial bowls of cereal.

Can I Use Quick 1 Minute Oats Or Should I Use Old Fashioned Oats?

We recommend using Old Fashioned oats, especially if you’re letting these sit and soak overnight as we recommend.

Quick oats would become very mushy and unappetizing if left to soak overnight.

We also recommend NOT using steel cut oats unless you want more of an oat taste and a grittier, oaty texture.

Also, if choosing to use steel cut oats, know that they’ll definitely need to soak longer than Old fashioned rolled oats.

How Do You Store It?

We recommend storing your overnight oats in your Mason Jar! Clear jars, like mason jars are the best to see the different layers and ingredients you’re adding in there.

Once you’re done adding the stuff to your jars, store them in the refrigerator.

How Long Are They Good For?

These oat mixtures are good for about 5 days.

You can enjoy these for meal prepping, or you can just make it the night before and try it in the morning and adjust for the next day as you see fit.
