Add in some candy hearts- to float on to the top of your drink as an extra special garnish.
Add whipped cream– make this drink more of a dessert with some whipped topping.
Add some apple crisp syrup– bring another fruity flavor to your cocktail with our homemade apple crisp syrup.
Add sugar rim of your mason jar– dip the rim in water or corn syrup and then cover it with sugar or crystallized candies to really take this cocktail up to the next level.
Tips & Tricks
- Keep the mason jar and the band and lid handy so you can use it as a shaker for this cocktail and you don’t even have to use a cocktail shaker. Less cleanup equals more valentines time later.
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker but don’t want to use the jar shake it up, grab two glasses one slightly smaller than the other and make your own shaker.
- If you’re having a hard time breaking the seal on your shaker tap the side of the glass or shaker cup around where they connect and that should help break the seal.
- Have some frozen strawberries or cherries? Use them as your ice cubes for this drink.

Can You Make This Without Alcohol?
If you want to make a cupids mocktail (or a cocktail without alcohol) all you have to do is basically make a Shirley Temple, which is sprite and grenadine. To jazz this up for Valentine’s Day for kids or those who do not drink alcohol, just add a few extra strawberries and cherries for their enjoyment.
Can You Make This Ahead Of Time?
If you choose to make this ahead of time, store it in a large pitcher in the refrigerator and don’t store it over ice. Wait to pour over ice until you’re ready to serve and enjoy.
We recommend not making this any earlier than 4-6 hours before you’d want to sip and enjoy it.
Can I Use Sparkling Water Instead of Lemon-Lime Soda?
Sure, we don’t see why not. We haven’t personally tried it out with sparkling water, but we imagine it would be pretty tasty. You could even get flavored sparkling water and really bring out some fruity flavors.
