Storage

This drink is best enjoyed when you first make it. We don't recommend trying to make this ahead of time.

For best results, leftover shake should be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week or two. Remove it from the freezer and let it thaw just slightly to where it is drinkable in consistency.

You may want to reblend your festive eggnog milkshakes. Or add a fresh scoop of vanilla ice cream to the mix before you blend it back up again.

Recipe Variations

Homemade Eggnog. You can use traditional eggnog or you can make your own with our homemade recipe. We like to do that so we know ours is super fresh and we know we love this eggnog flavor!

Thicker Shake. Want a thicker milkshake? Simply reduce the amount of eggnog to ½ cup. This may end up impacting how your eggnog shake tastes.

Boozy Twist. Make a boozy eggnog milkshake by adding a shot or two of brandy or dark rum to your creamy milkshake. Just remember to share that some of these milkshakes would be a boozy milkshake and off limits for the kiddos.

Change flavor. Make a chocolate eggnog milkshake by using chocolate ice cream instead of the vanilla ice cream.

Popsicle. Make an eggnog popsicle by putting this milkshake mixture into a popsicle mold.

Add toppings. You can also include some additional toppings to give it an extra special touch – try adding cinnamon, nutmeg, or even a dash of brandy!

What other garnishes can I use?

Instead of whipped cream and some nutmeg, you can use a maraschino cherry, some more cinnamon or use a wafer cookie straw.

Don't feel like you're missing McDonald's eggnog milkshake anymore when you can make your own at home and make it exactly how you like it!
