Lemonade is already a yummy drink by itself, but adding in fresh mint leaves and ice turns this into a wickedly delicious slushed treat!

There is nothing I love more than recreating traditional drink recipes.

The classic lemonade has always been a fan favorite, but it's usually adopted into a strawberry mix or combined with tea to form the 'Arnold Palmer' half and half.

I had neither tea nor strawberries in my arsenal. But I had mint, and I wanted to use it.

Thus Frozen Mint Lemonade was created.

What Is A Limonana?

A Limonana is a frozen mint lemonade that came from the Middle East. It's a little sweet, a little sour and the perfect amount of refreshing.

Did you know that 1 bunch of mint leaves can produce approximately 1 ¾ cups of chopped mint? I found this out after googling for a proper mint-to-water strategy.

What I also found out was how versatile mint leaves actually are (which I touch on briefly down below)!

So for less than the cost of your morning coffee, you can purchase a bunch of mint that will not only fragrant your drinks and liquours but will continuously grow on your kitchen counter or window seal too.

Needless to say, I wrote this recipe down as a recurring mix and will be enjoying this refreshing brew throughout the remainder of the year.

Mint Info

The smell of the mint herb is highly distinctive and fragrant and is used in many products worldwide.

When it comes to meals and drinks, its sharp bite has a cooling aftereffect and makes you feel like you just tasted pepper after the air hits your tastebuds.

Frozen Mint Lemonade Variations

  • We use fresh mint in this recipe, but if you're out, you can use mint extract. Check the label and make sure it doesn't say the alcohol version.
  • Trade out the lemon juice for lime juice for a limade mint creation.
  • Instead of sugar, try agave, honey or maple syrup.
  • For adults 21 and older, add a splash of vodka or gin to take this frozen drink to the next level.

Lemonade With Mint Slushie Tips

  • If you're running out of mint, before you chuck the leftover cuttings, grab a clean mason jar and propagate them in the water! Mint is really, really easy to grow and makes your kitchen smell fresh and clean.
  • Use a manual hand juicer or citrus juicer if you're using fresh lemon juice to really get it all without killing your hands trying to squeeze.
