How To Make A Hot Chocolate Latte

  1. Using your espresso machine, brew two shots of your espresso. Brew your hot chocolate either in keurig or other means.
  2. Add in one pump of peppermint syrup to your jar. Pour in the 2 shots of espresso and your hot chocolate.
  3. In separate container, froth your milk and add the froth milk to the top of you jar with espresso and hot cocoa.
  4. Add whipped topping and crushed peppermint candies.

Variations

  • Trade up the chocolate used in the homemade hot chocolate mix– use dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, etc.
  • Instead of just plain hot chocolate- use a snowman hot chocolate bomb, reindeer hot chocolate bomb or a frozen winter hot chocolate bomb .
  • Trade out your milk– instead of cows milk, use almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, etc.
  • Add a splash of Baileys– If you’re of legal drinking age, add a splash of homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream for an extra taste of yum!
  • Add a splash of apple crisp syrup or homemade oat milk.
  • Whole milk is the preferred option for it’s nice fat content, but you can use other milk if needed.
  • Use different toppings- add a dollop of DIY marshmallow fluff, crushed candy canes, caramel drizzle, Chocolate fudge drizzle, etc

Tips and Tricks

  • You can use a moka pot or programmable espresso machine to make your espresso faster.
  • Use freshly roasted coffee beans that have a medium to high roasting level for optimal espresso.
  • If using ground coffee, try to use finely ground, fresh rinds.
  • We photographed this recipe before we had our homemade hot chocolate mix recipe worked out, so you’ll see store bought mix and keurig hot chocolate in these photos. That can be used too. But eventually, we will reshoot these images to include our own mix recipe 😅
  • This is the perfect drink for sippin’ on while driving around checking out the neighborhood Christmas light displays.

Can You Freeze This?

We don’t recommend this. This drink is best enjoyed once you make it due to the nature of the drink ingredients and preparation.

How Long Is This Good For?

We recommend drinking and enjoying it as soon as you make it.

Can You Make This Over Ice?

Sure, if you want to make an Iced Peppermint Hot Chocolate Latte, you can. Heads Up: The ice may end up diluting the drink or changing the flavor slightly if you wait to long to drink it though.
