✏️ How to Make Homemade Cheeseburger Soup in the Instant Pot
Grab your simple ingredients and get to work on this easy cheeseburger soup recipe.
- Turn on the sauté mode of your Insta pot and add in your ground meat and ice onion. Sauté the meat until it’s only slightly pink, make sure you cook the meat as it will continue cooking in the pot under pressure. Cook the onions for 3 to 5 minutes or until they are translucent. Be sure to scrape the bottom of the pot to make sure that the onions do not stick.
- Add the water and potatoes to your Instant Pot and make sure the potatoes are evenly spread out in the pot. Add in the remaining ingredients, do not mix everything.
- Put me on the Insta pot twist to seal can you close the pressure valve on the top by pushing it away from you.
- Set your Instant pot to high pressure for one minute. Once the minute is up and it has finished cooking perform a quick pressure release by releasing the pressure valve manually.
- Press the cancel button and then turn off the Keynote back on. Once the ingredients start to simmer slowly add in the cream. Stir to mix and add your green onions stir again.
- Slowly adding your cheese while you continue to stir and make sure the cheese melts as you are stirring it in.
- Serve and enjoy! You can choose to top with Bacon bits, extra cheese, and green onions for garnish.

- Change up the cheese to change up the flavor. You can add a sharp shredded cheese or a spicy cheese, too!
- Don’t worry about draining out any of the excess grease for the cooked meat. It shouldn’t be enough to have to worry about doing that. However, if you find that you have to, you can always drain grease from the meat.
- I used ground turkey, but you can use ground chicken or ground beef.
- If using ground chicken, you can swap the water for chicken broth. Same if using ground beef, swap the water for beef broth.
- Make a big batch of Instant Pot Cheeseburger Soup and store it properly for freezer meals and have meals ready to go in the future. This is especially helpful in the colder months!
- The time it takes for the Insta pot to come up to pressure and release the pressure is not included in the cook time for this recipe.
