Lemon By The Glass
Can you tell a good lemon from a bad one? Other than turning colors, bad lemons will be less firm, develop spots and begin to smell rancid.
If you give your lemon a good squeeze and it shows dent marks or fingerprints, then it may be time to chuck that one out.
Lemons are a part of the citrus family, so they should have a crisp fresh smell to them and be firm to the touch.
Lastly, if you slice open your lemon and th e insides feel dry to the touch or little to no juice squeezes out when pressing on it, then it may indicate that the lemon is bad.
Some go a step further and taste the lemon juice for freshness, and this is not a bad idea! However, if you’re getting indicators that the lemon has gone bad from the look, feel and smell of it, then you can save yourself the extra trouble and just throw it out.
What Are The Benefits Of Lemon And Blueberry Water?
- Increases your Vitamin C intake. Vitamin C helps fight against free radicals that are trying to damage your body. It also lowers your blood pressure and helps reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease and risk for having a stroke.
- Aids in weight loss. The antioxidants in lemons have been proven to help reduce weight gain and help improve blood glucose levels, as well as, decrease insulin resistance in diabetics.
- Helps your skin. The Vitamin C in lemons has been proven to help decrease the appearance of wrinkles, helps aging dry skin and helps repair the skin from any sun damage that has already impacted your skin.
- Helps with digestion. Staying hydrated helps with overall digestion. But drinking lemon water daily can help your digestive system as it acts as a laxative and can help relieve constipation.

Can You Put Blueberries In Water And Drink It?
You absolutely can. It’s super easy and that is why we created this Blueberry Infused water recipe. Just fill your mason jar with your blueberries and water, put the lid on, and seal it.
Store in the refrigerator for 30 minutes at minimum, longer for more blueberry taste.
Is Lemon Infused Water Good For You?
In short, yes Lemon Infused Water is good for you. It has many, many benefits. Drinking infused water helps you stay hydrated and increase your overall fluid intake too.
Lemons are very beneficial for your health too. It is believed that lemon water helps fight against and helps to prevent kidney stones.
The citric acid in the lemons helps break down small stones. And drinking more water helps you flush out kidney stones.
See the other benefits of drinking water infused with lemon and blueberry above.
How Long Can Lemons Stay In Infused Water?
In general, lemons can stay in infused water for about 2 days if refrigerated in your mason jar.
After three days, the lemons will start to turn brown, lose their flavor and the texture will change from a firm lemon to a limp, soggy one.
Be aware that the longer you leave your fruit in the water, the flavor may start to change and even turn bitter.
If you leave your water at room temperature, it will start to turn and lose flavor after a few hours.
Does Lemon Water Detox Your Liver?
Just drinking lemon water itself doesn’t detox your liver or your body. You are merely flushing out your system. In order to detox, you need a source of fiber.
Can You Put Frozen Blueberries In Water?
You sure can. You can get an added bonus of using the frozen berries as ice cubes and then as they thaw they’ll release the antioxidants you need and they’ll add a delicious flavor to your lemon water.

How Long Can You Leave Blueberries In Water?
Similar to lemons, we only recommend leaving them in your water for about 2 days max, if refrigerated and stored in your mason jar properly.
Any Possible Side Effects Of Drinking Too Much Lemon Infused Water?
While there are many, many positive reasons to drink fruit-infused water, there are a few downsides that we think you should be aware of.
Drinking anything with too much citric acid can cause erosion of your tooth enamel. If this is something of concern to you, we recommend using a straw to drink your water and then when you’re finished, rinse your mouth with plain water and brush your teeth.
This next one can actually be a good or bad side effect. The citric acid in the lemons can cause heartburn for some individuals.
It is also known to help with heartburn if you already have it. This is something that will vary from person to person and we recommend you see how you react to the increase in lemon and citric acid intake and adjust accordingly.
The last one is kind of common sense, if you’re increasing your fluid intake by drinking flavored water, you will increase your urine output and in turn, increase your visits to the restroom.
Some studies have also shown that Vitamin C is a natural diuretic, so on top of the increased volume of water, the diuretic impact will increase your bathroom visits.
You may also find that your bowel movements increase and may become more regular.
Again, more trips to the restroom. But in general, these are “good” problems to have.

Fruit Infused Water Variations & Tips
- Add fresh mint – or your other favorite herb.
- Add other fresh fruit or veggies – like limes, oranges, cucumber, pears, pineapples or apples.
- Add a dash of sweet- add a dash of maple syrup or some delicious raw honey to bring a little sweetness and extra boost to your water.
- Make sure to wash your fruit- Almost 3/4 of fruit, especially lemons, are shown to have some kind of bacteria on their peel. Rinsing and cleaning your fruit is always a good practice and always recommended.
