How to Make Lucky Charms Hot Cocoa Bombs
- Begin by melting chocolate bark in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every thirty seconds until it is melted and smooth.
- Then, drop 1-2 tablespoons of the chocolate into the mold and spread it out with a spoon, brush, or any other preferred tool. Allow the chocolate to set for a bit before repeating with another layer to make it thicker and easier to work with.
- After allowing enough time for the chocolate to harden, carefully invert the silicone mold and remove the spheres.
- Set out all 6 halves, adding 1 tablespoon of white hot cocoa mix into one side along with mounded Lucky Charms marshmallows.
- Make sure to leave some extra Lucky Charm marshmallows to decorate the exterior later on.
- In case you run out of white chocolate, place some directly in a piping bag and heat in 30 second increments until melted completely before allowing it cool down before use. Drizzle this around the seam and use your fingers to spread it evenly before setting aside for more decoration.
- Do the same for candy melts but in separate piping bags instead and drizzle them around the seams for further decorating on top of the white hot chocolate bombs with any remaining chocolate and Lucky Charms on top of it all. Enjoy!
- To enjoy this hot chocolate bomb recipe, add this bomb to the bottom of a mug or jar and pour hot water or hot milk over top of the cocoa bomb and watch the hot chocolate bomb melt. Stir to mix it all together and enjoy the perfect cup of hot chocolate.

Storage
For best results, leftover delicious hot cocoa bombs should be stored in an airtight container and should be kept at room temperature, for up to 2-3 days. We think it’s smartest to enjoy your st Patrick’s day treat the same day you make them!
These would also make a simple gift for someone, just make sure they know how to use them and when to use them by. Since there are different ways to make them, it’s important to share this kind of info with the gift recipient.
Tips and Tricks
- If you’re having trouble getting the chocolate spheres made, it can be helpful to use the back of the spoon to smear the melted chocolate up the sides of the mold. You can also use a paint brush if needed.
- If you don’t want to use a microwave to melt your chocolate or almond bark, you can use a double boiler to heat the chocolate until it melts. Stirring it helps prevent it from hardening in the bowl. You can also keep it on a warm plate and stir it to help keep it easily pliable while you’re making the chocolate shells.
- You will need to work fast so the chocolate doesn’t harden in the mixing bowl as you’re trying to make the chocolate bomb shells.
- We don’t recommend trying to add large marshmallows to your cocoa bombs, they’ll take up too much of the sphere space.
- Cleaning the silicone molds can be difficult. We like to let the chocolate harden if there’s anything left and then pop the mold the other way and rinse. Some molds are dishwasher safe, but some dishwashers may have trouble getting it all clean.

Lucky Charms Hot Cocoa Bomb Variations
Chips. If you don’t have almond bark, you can use white chocolate chips to melt.
Flavor change. Instead of white chocolate or almond bark, you can use traditional milk chocolate or even dark chocolate to create the chocolate halves.
Change up the hot cocoa powder flavor! Instead of white chocolate cocoa powder mix, use whatever flavor you prefer to create perfect hot chocolate bombs!
Add yummies. You can add things into your bombs, like mini marshmallows on top of the cocoa powder in the chocolate bomb, or a combo of hot cocoa mix flavors to really amp up the flavor profile of these treats. It’s such an easy recipe to follow and make your own!
Add sprinkles. If you want to bring even more color to the bombs, you can add some colorful sprinkles on top of the melted chocolate on the top of the bombs when you are adding more of the cereal marshmallows to the top.
