  3. In a separate mixing bowl, add your heavy whipping cream and whisk it until whipped peaks start to form and they’re firm in texture. Be sure not to over whip the cream.
  4. Grab another mixing bowl and mix your cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.

  6. Add this mixture as your next layer in your jars and fill the jar.

  8. When ready to serve, remove and top with cherry pie filling.

All About No Bake Cheesecake vs. Traditional Cheesecake

No Bake cheesecake is fantastic for when it’s hot outside or you don’t want to turn on the oven. It’s just as it sounds, you get a cheesecake-like dessert without having to bake it and wait so long for it in the oven.

It still has a buttery graham cracker crust and a tasty mousse/cheesecake-like middle with a (pick your flavor) topping- we choose cherry pie filling as our topping.

It’s a lot easier than traditional cheesecake, as that tends to lend itself to more mistakes. You don’t have to worry as much about over beating the eggs or mixture in the middle. You also don’t have to sit by the oven hoping not to under or overbake your dessert.

In general, it’s a lot less hassle but still tastes so incredible.

Recipe Variations

Swap toppings– your storebought cherry pie filling for your own homemade cherry pie filling (we’ll be sharing our recipe soon)

Trade out the cherry– Cherry cheesecake not your thing? Try other toppings like pumpkin pie filling, blueberry pie or apple pie filling. Maybe drizzle some homemade pumpkin syrup on it? Or homemade caramel (recipe coming soon)

Add toppings– add more crushed graham crackers on the top for some more yummy flavor.

Add to the cheesecake– add some flavors like vanilla extract or a small amount of lemon juice to bring another element to your No-Bake Cheesecake mousse.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use cream cheese at room temperature, this will help make mixing the mixture easier and smoother.
  • Don’t put too much butter in the graham cracker mixture as this can make your crust become very hard and difficult to scoop out with your spoon.
  • For even more of a traditional cheesecake taste, add a dallop of sour cream to the cheesecake layer for more of that traditional tangy taste.
  • To help ensure you have a nice firm no-bake cherry cheesecake, truly make sure to beat your cheesecake layer and get those firm peaks.
  • We DON’T recommend you try to freeze your dessert to firm it up. This will cause the texture to change and will make it difficult to cut.

Why Is My Cherry No-Bake Cheesecake Not Firm?

The goal of a cherry no-bake cheesecake is to get the cheesecake layer to firm up like traditional baked cheesecake. If you find that yours in not firm after the full refrigeration time, you can try to let it sit in the fridge longer.

We recommend letting it sit up to 6-8 hours if you need extra time to become firm. Check periodically on your dessert to find out when it’s ready.

With these smaller pint size jars, it shouldn’t take nearly that long.

What Is No-Bake Cheesecake Made From?

No-bake cheesecake typically uses a pudding, custard, or gelatin to form the cheesecake like layer instead of the traditional way of baking it for a long period of time.

How Long Can Cheesecake Sit Out?

Safely, Homemade Cherry Cheesecake in a Jar can sit out on the counter at room temperature for up to 6 hours.

How Do You Store Cheesecake In Jar?

We recommend storing your cheesecake in a mason jar. You can cover the jar with saran wrap or with a lid and ring. We prefer the lid and ring if available.
We also suggest refrigerating your cherry cheesecake when you’re not enjoying it.
Cheesecake in a jar can be safely stored in the refrigerator for 5-7 days once you’ve made it.

Can You Freeze Cherry Cheesecake?

If you have leftover cheesecake and want to save it for later, freezing your finished cheesecake is totally an option.

We do recommend that you wrap your cheesecake in a jar, on the top with saran wrap or some sort of cover, followed with some aluminum foil, otherwise the texture may change to something less optimal.
Cherry Cheesecake can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Make sure to label your cheesecake and date it so you don’t let it expire. (Then add it to your freezer inventory list that we share below!)

How To Thaw Cheesecake:

We recommend pulling your fully frozen cheesecake out of the freezer a few hours- to the night before and placing it in the refrigerator to thaw.

If you need to serve your cheesecake sooner, you can attempt to thaw it on the counter for up to 6 hours ahead of time.

DO NOT MICROWAVE your frozen dessert to thaw it!
