What Is A Peppermint White Chocolate Cocktail?

A Peppermint White Chocolate Cocktail is a blend of vodka, liqueur, peppermint, and milk. It's a fun, festive cocktail drink that is easy to make, great for the end of the holiday season and even a simple drink to enjoy all year long.

Trade Out Milk- Some people opt to add a bit of weight to the mix by swapping the milk with fresh heavy cream- which is great for making this even creamier and indulging your sweet tooth.

Try Different White Chocolate Liqueurs- Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and Sheelin White Chocolate are great options to try that are usually used in coffee cocktails.

Swap Dairy- We prefer to use full-fat milk as it adds a melted marshmallow taste that compliments the white chocolate and peppermint. But, you can use other milk options or alternatives.

Try Adding Different Peppermint Flavors- Try out some other peppermint candies such as Brach's Wintergreen Christmas Candy Canes, Lifesavers Pep O Mint Hard Candy, and Red Bird Peppermint Puffs are good options to try and can be found online.

Try Adding Different Chocolates- Try using Dove Promises Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark Candies or even Ghiradelli's Chocolate Peppermint Bark or Hershey's Candy Cane Mint Chocolate Kisses.

Tips & Tricks

  • Watch how much sweetener you add to this drink, it naturally gets some sweetness from both the white chocolate liqueur and the vanilla vodka.
  • Pair this cocktail with Instant Pot S'mores Popcorn, or a chocolate pudding pie for the most amazing complimentary taste.
  • Use fresh peppermint extract. It tends to last 4 years, but check yours by smelling it and giving it a look over.
  • We suggest if adding chocolate like Ghiradelli's or Hershey's to crumble them up first, then place them in the freezer to stiffen before pouring them in a bowl or coating your cocktail.

How Do You Know If Peppermint Extract Is Still Good?

Suppose your peppermint extract was purchased in a local grocery store without much indicator of how pure it is; it's a high chance of having alcohol as its base.

Many commercial brands use alcohol in their extracts as it helps preserve the taste longer and allows less of the extract to be mixed.

However, once the extract has gone bad, the alcohol takes over and will smell (and taste) strongly of alcohol.

Now you may think that it's no big deal in an alcoholic cocktail, but the taste of alcohol from an expired extract is quite different from an intentional alcoholic shot, so I would strongly suggest not to experiment and mix the two.

But you don't even need to go that far. On the labeling of your extract, whether on the box it came in or on the back of the bottle, you'll be able to see the expiration date. A general rule of thumb, if you want to keep using extract past its expiration date, is to not go past 4 months of its expiration and to thoroughly shake the contents before each use.

How Long Is This Cocktail Good For?

This cocktail is best enjoyed right after you make it. We do not recommend making it ahead of time. If you do, wait to add the ice until you're ready to sip on it so it doesn't get watered down.
