What if you could enjoy your pumpkin pie on a plate AND in your cup? Seriously, who would ever know?

I’m a sucker for fall weather, and I have a habit of reviewing other people’s pumpkin pies (or at least that’s my excuse for grabbing a take-home slice- I’m testing it).

So when the chance came to me one morning to whip up a pumpkin-inspired mason jar, I jumped at it!

And with keeping in line with breakfast, I opted for a pumpkin pie smoothie blend that fell off the beaten track.

It was an instant hit with my crew!

Pumpkin Pie Smoothies Are Perfect For

  • Fall weather
  • Post Workouts
  • Great way to use leftover pumpkin puree cans
  • Afternoon desserts
  • Take on a fall walk
  • Enjoying at a football game
  • Sippin on with a few soft pumpkin cookies

These pumpkin smoothie jars seriously give the classic pumpkin pie a run for its money.

Blending the maple syrup, pumpkin puree, and spice together gives it that authentic touch while the greek yogurt and banana ooze breakfast appeal.

Now, I was tempted to toss in a few rolled oats but decided because of the richness of the mix that it wasn’t needed. However, I haven’t completely crossed it off my list as for the days I’m looking to take this for my cardio sessions, I add it in for a bulking replacement for protein powder.

Pumpkin smoothie jars are fun to make and will leave your kitchen smelling heavenly!

  • Banana– frozen or fresh
  • Greek yogurt – plain or vanilla
  • Milk – cows, almond or coconut milk
  • Pumpkin puree– canned or fresh
  • Maple syrup – or trade it out for one of the variations below
  • Pumpkin pie spice – always a necessity for fall recipes. You can also just use a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger like we use in our homemade DIY spice recipe.

  2. In a blender, mix together the greek yogurt, milk, and pumpkin puree on low setting until well blended.

  5. Once blended, transfer to your mason jar and top with chopped nuts, a sprinkle of cinnamon, pumpkin seeds, or whipped cream.

You can transfer your smoothie to the fridge to cool and stiffen for approximately 2 to 3 minutes but this is optional.

Can You Make Smoothies Ahead Of Time?

You sure can. You can make this smoothie and store it in your mason jar in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. You may need to stir it or thicken it as needed.

If you’re looking to freeze these smoothies, here is what we recommend:

  1. Make your smoothies according to the normal directions.
  2. Store completed smoothies in Mason Jars and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  3. When you’re ready to enjoy, let thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours and shake it up to stir it all back together.

Hey Kelsey, I hope you enjoy the smoothie. Chia Seeds aren't required, they're just a variation in this recipe, so try any of the other variations listed. If you're looking for seeds with similar benefits, try some flax seeds if you can have them. I hope these tips help and I hope you LOVE your homemade pumpkin smoothie.
