Recipe Variations
Not keen on whiskey? No problem! You could make a sweet tea vodka shot or even add some light rum to the shot instead. You don’t need a whole lot of vodka or rum for these delicious jello shots and you will still get all of that sweet tea flavor.
Want a citrus flavor? You could easily add some citrus flavor to these jelly shots. You could use a cup citrus vodka instead of whiskey, you could juice lemons or even add a dash of bottled lemon juice. Just use the remaining lemons to garnish.
Skip the jelly. If you don’t want to make jello shots this is still an incredible cocktail drink to enjoy. You could allow the tea to cool completely and then serve it over ice. Just skip the gelatin part of the recipe. You could also enjoy this drink warm. Many people associate hot whiskey as a cure for the common cold.
Make it peachy. You could look to use the juice from peach rings or add some peach flavor to this recipe instead. It is such a fun flavor and is naturally sweet to counteract the alcohol.
Avoid alcohol altogether. You could use a cold glass of lemonade instead of the whiskey in this recipe to make a mocktail-style shot or drink. Perfect to let the kids enjoy something a little different.

Tips & Tricks
- If you have made these jello shots ahead of time then store them on the top shelf of the refrigerator until you are ready to serve them. Make sure they are sealed or covered.
- Make sure you give the jello shots enough time in the refrigerator to set. This is the perfect recipe to make ahead of time. The day before will be ideal. They are next level so worth the wait.
- The longer you leave the tea, the stronger the flavor. Leaving it longer is the perfect way to intensify that flavor.

Storage
To store these jello shots you just need to add them to an airtight container or seal the mason jars if you have lids. You can then store them in the refrigerator for up to two months, believe it or not.
A great tip is to store them on the top shelf. However, they are best enjoyed sooner rather than later.
If you have any leftovers then you could look to freeze the sweet tea jello shots. Freeze them individually or even add the tea to an ice cube tray and allow them to set.
Make sure they have time to thaw before enjoying one or two in the summer months.

FAQ
Sure! It will affect the consistency slightly so be mindful that you may need a little extra gelatin for the shots to set properly.
We have used whiskey for this recipe, however, you could use vodka, either regular vodka or flavored, or even a rum. Tequila might also work well but you may need to balance things out with the sweetness.
It’s important to keep in mind that there ar varying sizes of shot glasses. If we are thinking that a shot is 1.5 fluid ounces, then we can say that there are 4 shots in half a cup.
This recipe makes about 6 jello tea shots, which uses about 4 shots of whiskey from the half cup of whiskey.
So, if we consider one shot is equal to one drink, there are technically only 4 true “drinks” even though we’ve made 6, so you would need 1.5 of these sweet tea jello shots to be equivalent to one drink.
