How To Make The Valentine’s Day Crack

  1. The first thing to do would be to gather all of your ingredients together. Make sure you preheat the oven to 325°F. Get your cookie pan or baking sheet and line it with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Give it a spray with nonstick cooking spray then arrange the saltine crackers on your prepared baking sheet so that they lay down. You will want to ensure all of the sides are touching. You will want a single layer of saltine crackers.
  2. Get a medium saucepan and add to it your butter and brown sugar. Put the pan on medium-low heat and stir continuously until the butter has melted.
  3. Now pour the butter mixture over the crackers. You can use a spoon to make sure you spread the mixture evenly across all the crackers
  4. Pop the crackers into the preheated oven and bake for 7 minutes. Once they are done, remove them.
  5. Put your white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it in the microwave. You will want to do 30 seconds each time and stir the chocolate to help it melt. Spread the melted white chocolate on top of the saltine cracker toffee until they are fully covered.
  6. Get your red or pink chocolate melts and add them to a piping bag. Using the microwave, melt them for 30 seconds. Squeeze the bag and heat again until they are melted completely. Cut off the tip of the bag and drizzle across the white chocolate.
  7. Make sure you scatter the sprinkles on top of the chocolates while the chocolate is still melted. This helps the sprinkles to set with the chocolate.
  8. Wait until the chocolate is fully set. When it is ready you can break it up into pieces or cut it into neat squares. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day crack.

Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t burn the butter and sugar when melting the butter and combining. You are wanting to make a buttery toffee and don’t want something that tastes burned or bitter. Add it to the saltine crackers once the butter is melted.
  • You can speed up the process of the chocolate setting by putting it in the refrigerator.

Storage

This is a great snack to make that stores really well. Once it is ready, add the pieces to an airtight container or a sellable bag and store them at room temperature.

It will be at its best for around a week. They would also be stored great in a sealed mason jar and could be given as edible gifts.
