How To Make The Valentine’s Fudge

  1. Gather all of your ingredients together and line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper, making sure that the parchment paper extends past the pan edges so that you can lift the fudge out of the pan after it sets. This is key.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of white chocolate chips, with ½ of the sweetened condensed milk, and half of the salt. Microwave for short bursts of 30 second intervals, making sure to stir during the melting process and in between bursts, until mostly melted. Then, stir until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and add 2-4 drops of food coloring (until you reach your desired look), and mix until it is thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Spread the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan in an even layer, and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes to set.
  5. Once set, repeat the process again, but do not add food coloring to this layer. Spread the fudge over the pink layer.
  6. Add the Valentine sprinkles on top of the fudge, and use your hands to slightly press the sprinkles in to make sure they stay in place.
  7. Place fudge in fridge to set for 2 hours and then cut it into small squares. Enjoy!

Recipe Variations

Get creative. You could split the melted white chocolate into four batches and have a white fudge layer, and a pink layer, and even go a little darker with the other batches to create a different look. Or why not add two layers then take a cocktail stick to dip in the fudge and create a swirled effect instead?

Use this homemade fudge recipe for other occasions. Using different food coloring means that you enjoy the fudge mixture at different times of the year. Green for St Patrick’s day, blue and pink fudge for a baby shower.

Want to try a different flavor? Peppermint extract will work really well with white chocolate. Perfect if you were looking to make some festive fudge with holiday sprinkles.

Fancy trying some rocky road fudge? You could add some mini marshmallows and crushed cookies before allowing the fudge to set.

FAQ

What is the secret to this fudge recipe?

You don’t want to overheat the melted chocolate otherwise the flavor is quite bitter. Keep an eye on it and remember to melt it in short bursts and stir throughout the process.

You should also give the fudge plenty of time to set.

How do I get colorful layers?

Giving the fudge mixture time to sit between adding another layer will help it not sink in and look more uniform.
