How To Make The Valentine’s Popcorn

  1. Microwave the popcorn as instructed on the bag. You will want to remove any un-popped kernels. Pour the popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  3. Melt half of the candy melts. Microwave for 30 second increments, stirring in between microwaving bursts until they're almost melted. Continue to stir until completely smooth. Pour the candy melt over the popcorn and stir it until combined with the popcorn. Spread popcorn onto the baking sheet into an even layer.
  4. Melt the rest of the candy melts and drizzle it on top of the popcorn.
  5. Now to decorate the popcorn. Sprinkle the broken pretzels, sprinkles, and M&M’s onto the candy melt that you have just sprinkled onto the popcorn.
  6. Allow the candy melt to set. You can place the pan in the fridge for 20 minutes to help it set faster. Break up the popcorn into pieces before serving. Enjoy!

Recipe Variations

Let’s get creative. You don’t need to stick with the suggestions above, you can add all sorts to this homemade popcorn. Why not add mini marshmallows, Valentine’s M&M, and drizzle across some melted chocolate?

Different chocolate. You could drizzle over melted white chocolate to create white chocolate popcorn. Dark chocolate and milk chocolate will also work really well.

Want a salty snack? You could use salty popcorn. The saltiness works really well with melted chocolate and gives a sweet/savory combination.

Tips & Tricks

  • If you haven’t got any wax paper then aluminum foil or parchment paper can be used instead.
  • Can’t get any candy melts? You could melt some white chocolate and use some food coloring instead.

Storage

If you want to store this for another time then make sure you add it to an airtight container once your Valentine’s day snack mix is ready. A mason jar is perfect for this.

You can store it in the refrigerator for up to three days. Just be mindful that the texture may change a little but it will still taste good.
